“Bitter Gourd And Sweet Potato”

Welcome to Verse by Kristina, a soul-tethered space where poems bloom like wildflowers—some bitter, some sweet, but all rooted in truth.

"It felt like something had so much power
to break someone who is unbroken,
to weaken someone who is healing,
And to destroy someone who is smiling.
It tastes like a fort cutting the skin
Quenching the flowing blood,
It felt like something had freedom to melt a candle
that sparkled with no fear.
It felt like a body lacked love that keeps it alive,
and which is not because someone stabbed with a knife,
But with words.
Not because you let go something away,
but because somebody left you at your lowest."

Expectations (False Hope)

Sometimes hopes, too lofty, weigh me down,
In expectations, sorrow's frown.
What I expected, now a scar,
But life moves on, though it seems far.

God's warnings echoed through my life's rhyme,
"Don't weep for those who won't make your heart chime,"
Yet I held hopes high, for an eternal tie,
Unaware they had choices, to say goodbye.

Waiting

I have waited like a moon
Surrounded by stars around,
Will you look to the sky?
Whenever it’s thundering, or raining?
Will you wait for me like I did?
I have promised every night to hold your hands—

Will you hold mine forever?

Heartbreak

I keep replaying your eyes in my mind.
A hidden desire was there.
Your fingers loved to run through my cheeks to hair.
I smelled like peace—that’s what you said.
My heart must have melted there more.

I have prayed to this universe
To keep your smile with you forever.
I know you don’t love me anymore,
For the wish to be true that I asked—
I had to let you go.

Dream

Didn’t I tell you?
I have a dream to dance like a honeybee,
Building my own kingdom,
Living and passing honey.
I know my home is in petals—

Flowers kiss me, and I melt, leaving honey.

Your Love

Summer shows so much love,
You become sun and I become sunflower.
Your love is water that keeps me growing.

Eye contact

Didn’t I tell you I love romance?
The romance that begins in the eyes—
A gaze that lingers like a soft echo,
Getting lost in each other’s silence.
The hush between our breaths,
Still and charged—
As if every pause is a promise.
Even in stillness, our gasps whisper
Of a love unspoken, yet deeply known.

The silence between us isn't empty—
It’s filled with the thunder of emotions,
Shared in a glance, sealed in stillness.

Thank you for reading,
Every word here is a thread from my heart to yours. I hope these verses remind you that even the bitterest truths can shape the sweetest strength.

With love,
Kristina
